Lunar New Year Celebration The Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, is a major East Asian and Southeast Asian celebration marking the beginning of the lunar calendar year. It is a time for family reunions, paying respects to ancestors, and welcoming the arrival of spring. Festivities often include dragon and lion dances, fireworks, traditional foods, the giving of red envelopes with money for good luck, and various cultural customs to ensure a prosperous and fortunate year ahead. It is a time of renewal, hope, and the celebration of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and other East Asian cultures.
