2.5 hour workshop Tuesday, June 23rd, 7pm EST/6pm CST/4pm PST Poppet work is one of the oldest forms of practical magic in the world, and hoodoo gave it a home. Hoodoo is an open practice, a living tradition of American folk magic that emerged from the African diaspora, developed alongside indigenous knowledge and European folk methods, and has always invited participation from those who approach it with sincerity and respect. Within hoodoo, poppets were not born as instruments of harm. They were tools of healing, vessels of intention created to carry medicine for a body in pain, comfort for a grieving spirit, or protection for a household. That healing root is what this workshop honors. Over two and a half hours together, you will build five distinct poppets by hand, learning a different method, material, and magical purpose for each one. Each type carries its own tradition, its own energy, and its own construction philosophy. You will work with fabric, natural fiber, wax, and organic materials as you move through each build, learning how the physical construction of a poppet is itself a ritual act. Naming, loading, and sealing your poppet are not steps you do at the end. They are woven into the making from the first moment you set intention over your materials. By the time you leave, you will have five completed, activated poppets and the working knowledge to make more. This is a hands-on workshop with no prior experience required. Whether you are new to folk magic or a seasoned practitioner looking to deepen your poppet practice, this session will give you grounded, practical technique rooted in tradition. You will leave with your five creations, a working understanding of poppet ethics, and a clear sense of how to continue this work on your own.
