Spiritual Bypassing, Confirmation Bias, and Being a Bad Psychic

Spiritual bypassing is a concept that refers to the use of spiritual practices and beliefs to avoid facing emotional or psychological issues or life's challenges. This can involve avoiding negative emotions, such as anger or sorrow, by focusing only on positive feelings, using spiritual ideas or practices to bypass responsibilities or difficult decision-making, or believing that one's spiritual beliefs make them immune to problems or difficulties. It is important to remember that spirituality is not a substitute for dealing with real-life challenges and emotions. Rather, spirituality is a tool that can help individuals navigate these challenges in a healthy and constructive way.

Spiritual bypassing is a situation that arises when a psychic, mystic, or spiritual practitioner overemphasizes spirituality as a way of avoiding difficult experiences, especially those which may initiate feelings of shame, like failing in a spell, not having psychic access, demonstrating that the practitioner is still learning and not infallible. There are several potential dangers of spiritual bypassing that psychics should be aware of. These include:

1. Ignoring unresolved emotional issues: When psychics focus only on positive emotions, they may overlook or suppress negative feelings they are afraid of that they must address for personal growth in their client.

2. Developing a false sense of spirituality: Spiritual bypassing can lead to a smug sense of superiority, and the belief that the universe is always in alignment with one's desires.

3. Making poor decisions: A psychic who bypasses difficulties can make poor decisions, mistaking their own subjective readings for pure intuition.

4. Avoiding essential life lessons: By ignoring challenges and skipping lessons that would have taught their client valuable life lessons, a psychic may force their client into repeating the same mistakes.

5. Misunderstanding psychic abilities: Psychics who bypass the spiritual realm may begin to believe that they can control the Universe, rather than receiving insight from it.

To avoid these kinds of dangers, psychics should acknowledge both the positive and negative emotions that arise during readings and remember that difficult experiences are essential for personal and spiritual growth, including not having access to all knowledge. It is also important to remember that the role of a psychic is to provide insight and guidance towards all outcomes, but not to impose their own will upon the universe or their clients.

Confirmation bias is the tendency for people to search for, interpret, favor and recall information in a way that confirms their pre-existing beliefs or hypotheses. This bias can lead people to ignore or dismiss information that contradicts their beliefs, while giving more weight to information that supports their beliefs. It is a natural human tendency, but it can have negative consequences as it can prevent people from considering alternative perspectives and making unbiased decisions.

Confirmation bias can have a significant impact on psychics. This is because confirmation bias is the tendency to look for, interpret, or remember information in a way that confirms our pre-existing beliefs or hypotheses. In the case of psychics, they may have a belief in their own psychic abilities and may selectively remember or interpret information that confirms these beliefs.

For example, if a psychic makes a prediction that a person will meet someone new with the initial 'J', they may only remember or focus on instances where the person meets someone with that initial, and ignore or forget instances where they did not meet anyone with that initial. Confirmation bias can also lead psychics to dismiss or ignore information that does not align with their beliefs or predictions. This can lead to disregarding evidence that contradicts their psychic abilities, potentially leading to a distorted view of their own abilities.

Shadow work is important for psychics because it involves exploring and integrating the parts of ourselves that we may have repressed, denied or disowned. By doing shadow work, psychics can gain greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of their own thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This can help them to be more effective in their readings and to avoid projecting their own unresolved issues onto clients. Additionally, the process of shadow work can lead to greater empathy and compassion, which are important qualities for any psychic to have.

Shadow work is an essential aspect of a psychic's personal and spiritual development. It involves facing and working through our unconscious beliefs, fears, and negative emotions. Psychics who engage in shadow work are less likely to fall into the trap of spiritual bypassing, which is a phenomenon where individuals use spirituality to avoid dealing with their emotional and psychological issues.

Similarly, by acknowledging and addressing our personal biases, psychics can prevent confirmation bias, where they unconsciously seek out information that confirms their existing beliefs and ignore evidence that contradicts them.

Shadow work can help psychics to have a deeper understanding of their clients and provide more honest and accurate guidance. It allows them to set aside their own ego and personal biases, freeing them to work more closely with their intuition and spiritual gifts.
